Websites for guesthouses.
A guesthouse website that takes direct bookings — so you keep the commission instead of handing it to a booking platform.
We design your homepage first. You only pay if you want to go ahead.
What actually matters here.
Every booking that comes through a platform costs you a slice of the rate. A guest who finds you directly, likes what they see and enquires on your own site is worth noticeably more per night. That difference usually pays for the website within a season.
- Photographs treated as the main content, not an afterthought
- Rooms, rates and what is included, stated plainly
- A direct enquiry or booking form that reaches you instantly
- Directions, nearby attractions and the practical guest questions
- Fast on a phone — most travel browsing happens on one
- Wired for reviews, so guests can vouch for you where it counts
How your customers actually find you.
Most guests find you on a booking platform and then search your name to look at your own site before deciding. That second visit is the one that matters, because a booking made there costs you no commission. Your website is not competing with the platform for discovery — it is competing for the booking after the discovery has already happened, and it wins on better photographs, clearer rates and a booking route that takes fewer taps than going back to the app.
What a well-built travel page does for places to stay.
Visit Citrusdal is a tourism guide we built and run. Its accommodation page sends visitors straight on to each place's own website, where the booking costs no commission.
From the guide's own cookieless analytics (24 September to 8 October 2026) and Google Search Console. Visits, not confirmed bookings. Read the full case study
The pages a guesthouse's site needs.
Not a template — this is the shape we would actually recommend, and why each page earns its place.
The best photograph you own, where you are, and a booking button. Nothing else above the fold.
Each room type with its own photographs and what is actually in it. This is what guests compare.
Stated plainly, per season if that is how you price. Hidden rates send people straight back to the platform where the rates are not hidden.
Genuinely useful local content — this is also the part that earns you search traffic from people planning a trip rather than booking one.
The property properly photographed, loading quickly.
A form that reaches you instantly, and your WhatsApp number for the guests who would rather ask first.
Start smaller and add pages later if you would rather. See plans and what they are worth to you, or check your current site free.
What goes wrong on most guesthouses' sites.
Said plainly, because these are the faults we are asked to fix most often — and if your current site has them, that is the redesign conversation rather than a new build.
- Photographs that are too small, too dark, or so large that the page takes ten seconds on a phone in a car park.
- No rates on the site, which is the single fastest way to send a guest back to the platform you were trying to avoid.
- A booking process with more steps than the app they came from.
- No map, no directions and no mention of what is nearby — the three things a guest checks before committing.

Things people ask us.
Can I take bookings directly instead of through a platform?
Yes, and that is usually the whole reason to build the site. At its simplest it is an enquiry form and a WhatsApp number, which is enough for most guesthouses and costs you nothing per booking. A full booking engine with live availability and card payment is real software and we quote it separately — worth it once the commission you are handing over exceeds what the system costs.
Will it connect to my existing booking calendar?
Often, yes — most of the common systems can share availability, and where they can we will wire it in so you are not keeping two calendars by hand. Tell us which one you use before we start, because it changes how we build the booking side.
How many photographs do I need?
Enough to cover every room type properly, plus the outside, the breakfast and the view — usually twenty to thirty good ones rather than a hundred average ones. Photography matters more here than on almost any other kind of site, and it is the one thing worth paying a professional for even if you do everything else yourself.
Will ChatGPT and Google's AI answers recommend my guesthouse?
Nobody can promise that, but you can make it likely. Assistants name places to stay that several sources agree on: your own site with your rooms, rates and rules written out in plain text, a Google Business Profile with real reviews, and the travel guides and directories that list you. We build the site so all of that can be read, and help you with the rest.
Can you get my guesthouse listed on local travel guides?
We run independent tourism guides ourselves, including Visit Citrusdal, and listing a place to stay in the areas they cover is free. For other guides and directories we tell you which ones are worth your time and give you the exact wording to use, so your details match everywhere.
Do I have to pay before I see anything?
No. We design your homepage first and show it to you in a browser. If you do not like it, you owe us nothing. Only once you are happy do we agree a start date and take the first payment.
How much does a website for a guesthouse cost?
One monthly price and no build fee: R 399, R 599 or R 899 a month, including the design, hosting and changes, or the year in one go with two months free. For most guesthouses we recommend the Grow plan (R 599), because it answers every enquiry for you. Full SEO is an extra from R 3 500 a month. You see your homepage before you pay.
I already have a site but it does nothing for me.
That is the most common call we get, and AI-built sites are a growing share of it. Run the free website check on our homepage to see exactly what is wrong; most sites have the same three faults: slow, painful on a phone, and never telling the visitor what to do next. We tell you honestly whether it needs replacing or just repairing, with a fixed quote.
Do I need to write all the content myself?
No. Give us the rough facts — what you do, where you work, what you charge — and we will shape it into something that reads well and sells. You approve every word before it goes live.
What happens after the site is live?
We host it, keep it patched and backed up, and make small changes as your business changes. That is the "care" part, included in every plan. You are never left holding a website you cannot edit and cannot reach anybody about.
Let's build yours.
Tell us what you need — a new site, a refresh, or just a question about what it would cost. We reply within a day, usually sooner.
Whichever you and your customers prefer.
